A screenshot is the quickest way to show somebody what a page looks like without asking them to open it. It is handy for previewing a site you are building, for keeping a record of a page that may change, or for checking how a site renders on a viewport other than your own.

The picture is drawn on demand by a rendering service and handed straight back to your browser, so nothing is stored on this server. A page that is behind a login, or one that leans on heavy JavaScript, may come out incomplete -- that is a limit of the service, not of your link.
